The Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner track's emphasis is on health promotion, illness prevention and management of acute and chronic illnesses in adolescents, young-to-middle age adults and adults age 65 years and older. Graduates are prepared to practice independently and collaboratively with other health-care professionals. This track's clinical component consists of 630 hours of guided experience under the mentorship of an advanced practice nurse or physician. Graduates are eligible to take the ANCC or AANP national certification exams and obtain a state advanced practice license as a nurse practitioner.
