Advances in technology have increased access to educational opportunities across all sectors of society. However, such advances have not led to comparable increases in the quality of educational experiences. There is an urgent need for qualified professionals who are able to design high-quality instructional materials for fully online, blended and conventional learning environments in business and industry, PK-12, and higher education settings. Instructional technology is a growing field that uses what we know about how people learn, how to stimulate learning, and emerging technologies to improve education, training, and job performance. The Master of Arts degree in Instructional Technology is designed to meet the needs of prospective and practicing educators, instructional designers, and training specialists in various settings to apply the principles of instructional design and emerging technologies to create innovative and pedagogically sound learning environments.
