The Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) Special Education (K-12) is two-phase 39-hour master's degree program. Students eligible for this online program are those who have completed Phase I, the 27-credit-hour Graduate Certificate, in either Special Education (K-12): Adapted Curriculum or Special Education (K-12) General Curriculum and have obtained their North Carolina Standard Professional I (initial) teaching license. Full time special education classroom teaching placement is highly preferred to complete Phase II of the M.A.T.

Phase II of the Special Education (K-12) M.A.T. consists of 12-credit-hours which completes this master's degree for students following the Adapted Curriculum track as well as for those following the General Curriculum track.
