A Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) is a primary health care provider for women throughout their continual life stages from pre-menarche throughout post-menopause. The care that a CNM provides for women includes health promotion and disease prevention; health education and counseling; contraceptive management; gynecological care, pre-conception care, prenatal care, monitoring of labor and guidance of the birth of a baby into the world; and care of the infant and mother after birth. The CNM is the expert regarding normal women's health.
