The Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC) and Certified Housing Counselor (CHC) professions help middle- and lower-income individuals and families. The goal is to help these households learn to manage their personal finances to best meet the household's needs for housing, debt recovery and long-term financial planning when income security is at issue.

With the convenience of online education, this 18-credit-hour* financial and housing counseling graduate certificate is available from the University of Missouri Personal Financial Planning Department. Successful students are eligible to sit for the AFC and CHC certification examinations, given by the national Association for Financial Planning and Counseling Education (AFCPE).
