The purpose of the Special Education program is to prepare educators to become highly skilled professionals in the field of special education. The program is designed to meet standards outlined by National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) programs, Council for Exceptional Children (CEC), the National Board for Professional Teaching (NBPTS), and the Interstate Teacher Assessment and Support Consortium (InTASC). The program offers two tracks that include the Early Childhood Instructional Specialist (P-4) and the Instructional Specialist (4-12) in accordance with the Arkansas Licensure requirements.
