This Master of Arts in Teaching in Early Childhood Education prepares teachers seeking alternate certification to work with young children, their families, and their communities. The degree program is comprised of education courses and a practicum experience that address all standards of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Throughout the program, candidates strengthen their knowledge, skills, and dispositions related to working with children from birth to eight years of age. Graduates of the program will be eligible for Louisiana initial teacher certification in grades PK-3 and will meet the requirements for becoming a “highly qualified” educator.
