Mathematics is the science of structure, order, and relation that has evolved from counting, measuring, and describing the shapes of objects. It deals with logical reasoning and quantitative calculation and is considered the underlying language of science.

As a student in the Bachelor of Science in Mathematics program, you complete 45 credit hours in mathematics.* The common core comprises 27 credit hours in calculus, linear algebra, modern algebra, real analysis, and mathematical modeling. The remaining courses are largely electives within mathematics. You work with your academic advisor in selecting them.

* Please note that the B.S. in Mathematics places more emphasis on math courses than does the B.A. in natural sciences and mathematics.
